DIY | Straight Knot Necklace

DIY
August 8 2012
I spent the better half of last week on the hunt for a statement necklace in a burnt orange colour (my friend Elle is a witness to this!) but with no avail. But when I came across this one from Monki I thought to have a go at recreating something similar, but in the colour I wanted!
This was my first go, and although it isn’t perfect, I’m absolutely in love with the result!
Here’s how I did it…
Tools
Jersey Fabric (0.25m x 0.75m)
Chains (Wickes)
Pliers (Wickes)
“S” Hookes (Wickes)
Scissors (Poundland)
Glue Gun (Wickes)
I bought my fabric for £1 at my local fabric store. The other tools were from my Wickes!

I love DIY projects because they are fun and I get to make things with my own stamp on it!

I hate when I’m out looking for the perfect accessory and I can’t seem to find it! This cute necklace you’ve recreated inspires me to start trying my hand at making accessories of my own. And I bet would be so rewarding to wear something DIY and when someone asks you where you got it you’re able to say you made it yourself.

Great job, Shirley! And thanks for the inspiration.

Great video. Very clear and nice captioning.

Around here we call that a lanyard knot. I love it and have made several bizarre neckacles and bracelets with it. Love your take on it.
