Feel Good Tips

Hey everyone! So a bit of a different post to the usual fashion and beauty. As Spring is here, I know a lot of us will be doing a whole bunch of Spring cleaning, re-organising and re-focusing, and I thought “how about starting a conversation on doing all these internally too?”. And that’s where I came up with the idea of sharing 5 Feel Good Habits to Form. Here they are…

1. Walk more.

Not only is it something anyone can do, it is also very beneficial when it comes to remaining present and taking in the atmosphere and nature. Speaking of which, I’d like to tell you more about an app I discovered called “Earthmiles”. It’s an app that rewards you for walking. Think of it as how “Airmiles” are for flying, Earthmiles are for doing activities that are good for a healthy and fit lifestyle. The app also rewards you for other activities such as running and cycling! You can then redeem these rewards or “Earthmiles” on various freebies and exclusive discounts on healthy products and snacks, as well as Wellbeing retreats and Fitness classes! You can also make friends on the app and see what they are getting up to and gaining and spending their “Earthmiles” on. Be sure to add me on it as well “Shirley B. Eniang!”.

2. Juice!

Juicing is a great way to absorb immune boosting nutrients usually found in fruits and vegetables. I love to juice from time to time, and my favourite one to make is a Refreshing Green Juice, which contains Spinach, Lime, mint and Ginger (Sometimes Apple for sweetness)! My juicer is this MAGIMIX Juicer!
(I’d love to share some of my favourite juice recipes on the blog, so let me know if you’d like to see a post like that!)

3. Meditate.

There are many forms of meditating, but the one I find most helpful is the one that focuses on your breathing and the present. It’s about focusing on what is. All you do is find a spare 10 mins in your day and focus on your breathing. It helps to clear the mind and revitalise your brain. If you find it hard at first to meditate (i.e. many thoughts coming in and out of your mind), try your hardest to focus on inhaling and exhaling.

4. Challenge yourself daily!

Everyday presents itself an opportunity to learn something new, and challenging yourself daily to do this brings a number of benefits. It can be ticking off that To-Do list you’ve had in your diary for weeks, or going for a run in the park (you can earn Earthmiles for this!), or de-cluttering and re-organising your space, or even choosing to get out of your comfort zone and apply for that job that caught your attention in your local newspaper. Challenge yourself!

5. Practise Kindness.

Ask yourself…
“How much kindness can I give today?”
“How many times can I choose kindness even when it is difficult to do so and when I don’t feel like it?”
This in turn spreads love and makes you feel good!

~~~
Once you start doing these things, they become second nature and allow you feel good, and ultimately feel your best.
    Love the shoes and the dress, very ‘springy’. And I totally agree with the last one about being kind. I always try to do a ‘good deed’ every day. Small or big. Just a little gesture, it all counts 🙂
    Great advice! I also plan to get back more consistently to juicing,more veggies. I don’t eat meats. I lean towards fish and poultry. I don’t have a vehicle at the moment. S o.. I walk much more. Which is a Good thing and a blessing in disguise. I have to lower my cholesterol!! Plus, less process snacking. Overall, yes we can all benefit from your advice. Unfortunately,with all the chemicals,pesticides,steroids,and genetically modified foods in this world. Lord .. help us too.
    Love green juice! However I must always have apple or pinneapple added for the sweetness. There’s no way I can get through it without it being sweet. lol. Great post Shirley!
    • Reply Mishannie May 6 2016 at 4:16 pm
      I use to be like that about it being sweet and I so love green juicing as well but I do not use any fruits in mine in the morning time but in the evenings I do. I see a major difference in my body when I leave out the fruits in the morning so to ensure I can drink it I use limes or lemons to give my juices a fresh crisp taste not blended just squeezed in. I also do not use too many heavy greens, my go to combo is kale, pakchoy, cucumber and celery with fresh lemons or limes squeezed in. I have recently found her blog and the quality of her posts just screams refinement, effortlessness and sophistication. Glad to see there are like minded people in the world.
    Love Love Love, the walking and challenging myself bit. It sounds so simple but could be tricky if not consistent.
      I really hope that you feel better soon and you successfully incorporate her tips into your life. Or take the tips and tailor it to your needs. I recently went through feeling depressed, stressed and was too overweight. I did similar things to Shirley and I am on my way out of the funk. All the best.
    Great tips Shirley! I would love to see more juice ideas as it’s something I really want to get more into – about the only way I will get my recommended fruit intake! Also, I spotted that dress in Zara the other day and thought it was pretty… and now that I see it on you I’m in love with it! It looks amazing on you. x
